Distillation and Reactor Glassware for Specialty Chemicals

Specialty chemical plants run many short campaigns, odd boiling points and colour-critical products. Glass distillation, small jacketed reactors and short glass pipelines are common because operators want to see the mass and because a metal train may be too slow for a development campaign. Specify the duty in plant language: solvent class if you can share it, solids, vacuum, and whether the still is batch. Heating method (bath, mantle, steam) changes what we need to know about the pot. Condenser utility and receivers should be on the same sketch as the column or head. We will not invent HETP or a guaranteed cut. Reactors in specialty chemicals are often jacketed so a service fluid can track an exotherm or a crystallisation. If the reactor feeds the still, quote them together so joints match. Pipelines and sight glasses belong on the same bill of materials when colour is a release criterion.
